M2 MacBook Air 13 review. It still too good
This is the 2022 MacBook Air 13 with M2 and is a complete redesign compared to the previous MacBook Air . Its smaller
its lighter its feel just good as the bigger pro 14 and 16 . Since the design language is identical ,and also people buy this because they
one monitor to this very similar to the previous M1 unless you use sidecar or some sort of dongle to add more but at the end of the day it only supports one.
There is a new charger that comes in the box to depending if you buy more expensive MacBook Air 12
with the extra GPU cores and you get two type c ports on it . Very handy if you have your phone with you , you can plug your phone in at the same time and charge your MacBook as well . The entire laptop screams premium it feels good to touch abviously super easy to open up with
One hand you have the same touchpad experience as you do on the MacBook Pro 13
Or the previous MacBook Air it's still the gold standard one of the best touch pads you can use period. The typing experience is identical the keys feel nice to type on there's a good amounts of
travel distance and of course you have the touch ID button at the top right hand corner now the other big update is the display. It's gone up to 13.6 inches a tiny bit bigger it's not like massively bigger if you compare them side to by side to the MacBook Pro 13 it's
feel a little bigger . It's not like oh my God this is a huge difference bigger but it's noticeable if you like really look at the two display. yes there's a notch but you do get a better 1080 mp webcam and it's much better than the previous 720p webcam that came on the previous
MacBook Air 13 or MacBook Pro 13. Honestly I would have loved a high refresh rate on the display but the color accuracy and color gamut is fantastic and the screen brightness gets over 500 nits you are now listening to the microphone on the MacBook Air 13
But we gotta talk performance and we have to have a serious conversation because there's a lot of controversy around the net that the M2 is not much of the an upgrade look in some ways it's not right CPU performance going from M1 to M2 is very small you know
like if you are doing short bursty things then I did fine the M2 to be a tiny bit faster but you have to like really pay attention to it . The one area that I saw the M1 actually outperforming this is the over extensive workloads
Like take my Mozilla Firefox compile test for examples
right that did in 25 minutes on the MacBook Air 13 compared to only 23 minutes on the MacBook Pro 13. It should be faster but the problem is the M2 does run a bit hotter and because of that it has the throttle earlier and when you throttle earlier you reduce
the amount of performance that the CPU is giving out and because of that you're going to get a lower score the big update through came down to the GPU the two extra cores do make a difference. Is it a massive improvement to the point where it's touching the
MacBook Pro 14 no but it's definitely an improvement compared to the M1 so if you're an individual jack of all trades master of none one day you're editing a 1080P or a 4K videos . The next day you're doing a little bit of compiling code or anything that's GPU related then
you'll notice a difference with those two extra cores . It's not a massive update but it does help and the and the other way that people tested it, is gaming like these are not gaming machine at least when it comes to AAA titles and you will see a three to four FPS improvement
compared to the M1 but it's not going to break any records . I think the end of the day is if you're coming fr let's say an older Intel Mac or even a Windows laptop that's using an integrated GPU the M2 is gonna be a nice update because you're not just buying it for the processor
you're buying it for the total package you know sometimes people people get so obsessed
With performances. They block everything out I want you to sit there right and tell me one other computer that gets this kind of battery life because the MacBook Air 13 battery life is through the
roof. I've never experienced this on any other light and portable windows laptop ever . There's no fan in here right again name me another computer that has no fans and gives this type of performance you can't , Okay yes it gets a bit hot ,yes . It's not the breakthrough that a
lot of people were expecting but it's still the total package . What I can say through is if you're coming from an M1 you have nothing to get jealous about you're chilling your M1 is good untill the M3 comes out because the performance differences between the two are not
really massive and if you're expecting this to crush 4k videos edits all day long you're looking at the wrong computer you be buying the
MacBook Pro 14 or MacBook Pro 16 . This doesn't speak to you because its meant to be a jack of all trades master of none but this to me is still the champ
for back to the school this to me is still the champ for productivity. This to me is still champ for a 2.7 proud laptop that you can travel anywhere with and in a pinch I can do the things I need to do may be not as fast as the MacBook Pro 16or 14 but I know it can do it. Anyways
that's all I have to say . I have you guys enjoy my review of the MacBook Air 13. There is still a M1 MacBook Air being sold for 999 so if you don't care about the webcam and all you're going to get is right gigabytes of memory you might want to save 200 bucks and pick that up
instead but of you are buying this okay get the two extra GPU cores because that will make a difference of you are planning on doing any sort of GPU related tasks like
Video editing
3D work
That wraps it up . If you like it don't forget to like it and also share it with your friends and family. I will see you in the next one thank you
