Russia turns off the gas in big energy shock to Europe
Amid nuclear disaster fears over Ukrainian plant Russia Vs West energy war deepens . Russian Energy giant Gazprom extended gas shutdown through nord stream 1 pipeline .
Nord Stream 1 is the single biggest pipeline for gas from Russia to Europe .
Its indefinite shutdown is a big setback as Europe will be forced to cut power usage . Delay in resuming gas deliveries will deepen Europe energy problems.
Moscow blamed sanctions imposed by west for “Hampering”Routine OPS of Nord stream 1 whereas Europe Union and U.S accused Russia of using gas supply as “Weapon Of War”.
Gazprom blamed it on a technical fault in pipeline but timing of the move raised questions . On Friday Finance minister from G7 countries agreed to put price cap on Russian Oil.
Western Sanctions on Russia have led to record-Inflation in many developing countries . Criticising move ,Russia said it will stop selling to any country that implemented price cap .
Amid the energy war there is also a fear of nuclear calamity in the Zaporizhzhia plant . UN ‘s Nuclear watchdog -IAE sent experts to active war zone to investigate the N- Plant
Occupied by Russian troops Zaporizhzhia supplies over a fifth of Ukraine electricity . Both Ukraine and Russia have blamed each other for shelling near nuclear power plant .So far Russia has resisted international calls to pull troops out and demilitarise the area .
