Outgoing Israel PM Yair Lapid said Israeli soldiers “will not be interrogated” by the FBI . This after reports that FBI will probe Palestinian American Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh killing .

The veteran reporter was shot and killed while covering an Israeli army raid in west bank of May 11 . Israeli army has conceded one of its soldiers had likely shot Abu Akleh after mistaking her for a militant .
Democrats Right groups and the Abu Akleh family have been pushing for a US-led inquiry . On Monday Politico reported that the FBI had opened a probe into the killing . The FBI has neither confirmed nor denied that it has opened an investigation .

Israeli PM Defends IDF Soldiers
The IDF is a moral army and the values of its soldiers and commanders protect Israel , thoroughly investigate every incident and are committed to the values of democracy and its law .
IDF soldiers will not be interrogated by the FBI or by any foreign body and foreign country however friendly . We will not abandon our soldiers to foreign investigation and our strong protest has been conveyed to the Americans at the appropriate levels (Isreal PM).
Isreali defense minister earlier said that they “Will not cooperate with an external investigation”. The Veteran reporter was wearing a bulletproof vest marked “Press” and a helmet when she was shot in the head in the Jenin refugee camp in west bank ,Triggering worldwide outrage .
