After battle tanks the west is divided over supplying combat aircraft to Ukraine . While US president Joe Biden has already ruled out sending F-16s to Ukraine. Germany Olaf Scholz rejected demands by Kyiv to supply combat aircaft .
France and Poland appear to be willing to address Kyiv request for fighter jets . French president told reporter in the hague that by definition nothing is excluded when it comes to military assistance to Ukraine troops .
French president president stressed any such move would depend on several factors including the need to avoid escalation and assurances that aircraft would not touch Russian soil .France is also considering Ukraine request for fighter jet pilot training .
Polish prime minister also did not rule out possible supply of F-16s . He said that any such transfers would take place in complete coordination with NATO . Earlier this month the Netherlands also said that it would examine the F-16s request with an open mind adding that there were no taboos in terms of military support .
After tanks Ukraine has been pushing for western fourth-generation fighter jets like F-16s. Zelensky was warned for weeks that Moscow aims to setup assault long the frontlines.. Ukrainian president has been using the west to speed up delivery of its promised weapons .
However hundreds of tanks pledged by western allies are still months away from delivery . Russia has already warned the west over supply of modern tanks to Ukraine saying that it leads to NATO countries becoming directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine.
