A US F-22 jet has taken down another object in north American airspace . The object was shot down while it was hovering over Canada Yukon on Feb 11. Canadian and US aircraft were scrambled to track the unidentified object and then an Aim 9x missile was fired at it from an American F-22 fighter jet.
Canadian PM and US president authorised the shoot down of the unidentified object . PM Justin Trudeau said that the unidentified object violated Canadian airspace . Canada defense minister revealed that the object was smaller and cylindrical in size .
Third object shot down in north American airspace
North american aerospace defense command detected the object over Alaska late Friday evening . The unspecified object was flying over central Yukon at about 40,000 ft. US fighter jets from joints base Elmendrof-Richardson , Alaska monitored the object as it crossed over into Canadian airspace . Canadian CF-18 and CP-140 Aircraft joined the formation. A US F-22 shot down the object in Canadian territory using an Aim 9x missile following close coordination between US and Canadian authorities . (As per Pentagon)
However the capabilities of the object including its purpose and origin are not yet known . Canadian forces with the help of FBI are now working to recover and analyse its debris . This is the third such incident where a US jet shot down an object in the last seven days .
On Friday US Air force shot down a car-sized object flying over Alaska . On Feb 4 the US jet shot down a Chinese spy balloon flying over a nuclear launch site . The Chinese spy balloon Saga triggered a massive diplomatic row between US and China .
The incident drew global spotlight on China after Washington accused Beijing of using balloons to collect crucial intelligence information. US and NATO claimed that the spy balloons was part of China fleet spanning five continents .
