Are peace talks between Russia and Ukraine possible without preconditions a year after war? Russia says it is ready to engage with Ukraine but there should not be any preconditions .
Russian deputy foreign minister Sergey Vershinin said in an interview with Zvezda news that any between Russia and Ukraine should be based on the existing reality . However it is US and EU that make the decision for talks and not Ukraine Vershinin said .
Russia stands its ground on talks
Yes according to the classics any hostilities end up in talks and naturally as we have said before we will be ready for such talks but only if those are talks with no preconditons talks that would be based on the existing reality.
First of all there have been talks before you remember Minsk and you remember Istanbul . And you remember that those were broken off by Ukraine, but you are well aware that decision are being made in other capitals primarily in Washington and Brussels . So inquiries should be sent there .

President Vladimir Putin has time and again said that for Russia to come to talks table Kyiv must accept ground realities including 4 annexed regions of Ukraine as Russian. But Ukrainian president has also put forth a series of demands for peace .
Ukraine main demand is that Russia withdraw troops from all Ukrainian territories . Crimea annexed by Russia in 2014 is also a point of debate between the warring nations.
