Mumbai experiences its wettest July on record; IMD issues a red alert | Schools and colleges close

 After witnessing heavy rainfall for more than a week for more than a week Mumbai is facing another episode of extremely heavy rainfall the Indian meteorological department or IND has issued a red alert for the Mumbai City and suburban area from 8 pm on Wednesday till Thursday afternoon incessant rain lashed parts of Mumbai which prompted

 the IMD to upgrade the orange alert to Red for the financial capital from Wednesday night till Thursday  afternoon in the wake of heavy rainfall schools have been shot in the city reports said that there is a high possibility of disruption in traffic local train and bus services the Britain Mumbai Municipal





 Corporation or BMC said that all schools colleges and municipal offices will remain shut in Mumbai and  its suburbs in view of the heavy rainfall predicted by the weather Department in the city the Civic body further urged all citizens to stay alert to stay indoors and follow instructions from the

 administration Municipal commissioner and administrator of The BMC Iqbal Singh chahal issued a statement about it on Wednesday night earlier on Wednesday afternoon the weather Department issued an orange Alert in the city along with Thane raigad and palgar following incessant heavy rainfall

 Mumbai received 101.35 millimeter of average rainfall between 8 AM and 10 pm on Wednesday while eastern and western suburbs recorded 87.54 millimeter and 102.55  millimeter of average rainfall in the same period the University of Mumbai has also canceled all examinations scheduled to be held on Thursday across the city the new date will be announced later

 the heavy to very heavy rainfall affected the traffic movement in the city however reports said that all local train Services were running at the normal Pace amid the downpour the Andheri Subway which is an underpass between Andheri and jogeshwari Railway stations was closed for traffic a couple of times since Wednesday morning due to waterlogging Meanwhile after the

 intense showers the IMB stated that the financial Capital recorded its wettest July ever on Wednesday with the month so far witnessing a record 1557.8 millimeter rainfall .
