 A decision could not be taken today to give immediate relief to the people suffering from the Jilli Bill. There will be another meeting tomorrow on electricity rates and bills.



A meeting was held on electricity rates and bills under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar. The Caretaker Prime Minister asked for reports from the relevant authorities on the electricity bills, suggestions were also asked for providing relief to the people. On the other hand, sources say that Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar was briefed by the Ministry of Energy and distribution companies in the meeting. Given, the employees were also briefed on the issue of free electricity supply.

In the briefing given in the meeting, it was informed that the free electricity units provided to the officers of the discos are ending. Except for old employees of WAPDA, no discount is being given in electricity bills in any department. At present this concession is being given to the employees of the discos, not that the entire burden is being passed on to the electricity bill payers.

Sources say that the caretaker prime minister directed to stop the supply of free electricity. The caretaker prime minister also directed to take emergency measures to stop power theft.
