Canada, 120 years old church converted into a mosque

 A 120-year-old church in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, was bought and converted into a mosque.



The Muslim community converted the historic St. Margaret Mary Church building at the junction of Sunnyside Avenue and Byrne Street into Masjid Farooq Azam and offered congregational prayers with the first call to prayer.

The founder of the new mosque and the chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, Badiuddin Suhrawardy, led the Imamate.Iftikhar Mirza, president of the management committee of the mosque, while talking to representative Jang, said that the Christian community living in the vicinity of the new mosque has welcomed us.

He said that religious symbols, furniture and statues of the church will be donated to another church. Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs made a special visit to the mosque and offered greetings to the Muslim community.
