Former US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson escaped jail.Olson has been ordered to be placed on probation by the US court. The former US ambassador was also fined by the court, but not sentenced to prison.
According to foreign media, Olsen, 63, appeared in a US court on Friday, having pleaded guilty to two counts of murder last year.
He pleaded guilty to lobbying for Qatar and failing to disclose travel benefits received from third parties within a year of retirement.
According to media reports, Olson could have served up to 6 months in prison, apparently because of his service to the United States and a plea bargain. Richard Olson retired from the State Department in 2016, after a career spanning 34 years.
