The Federal Shariat Court has issued an order for preliminary hearing on the petition against the deletion of the section criminalizing suicide.
The Federal Shariat Court in its decision said that the petitioner said that suicide is forbidden in Islam, according to the petitioner, suicide was a crime in Pakistani law before the amendment act.
The court said that the petitioner cited Quranic verses, several hadiths, the petitioner said that deleting suicide as a crime is against Islam and Islamic teachings.
The judgment said that the petitioner requested that the court declare the Criminal Law Amendment Act 2022 as contrary to the Quran and Sunnah.
Lawyer Hamad Saeed Dar filed a petition against the deletion of Section 325 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which was deleted by Parliament through the Criminal Law Amendment Act 2022.
