12 people were killed as an SUV rammed into a parked truck on the Bangalore-Hyderabad Highway on the outskirts of Chikaballapur near Bangalore on Thursday. Authorities have reported that two others were injured in the incident and are currently receiving critical medical care at a local hospital. The incident was exacerbated by the presence of a dense layer of mist, severely limiting the driver's visibility and leading to the heart-wrenching outcome.
Chikaballapur SP DL Nagesh has provided additional details explaining that the SUV rear-ended the parked truck, resulting in the tragic demise of 12 individuals, including two women. The victims were in transit from Andhra Pradesh, a fact confirmed by the SP during his visit to the accident site. The unfortunate individuals who lost their lives hailed from Gantala in Andhra Pradesh but had been residing in the Hongasandra area of Bangalore. Of the victims, five lost their lives at the scene of the collision, while the remaining seven succumbed to their injuries while en route to the hospital.
The intensity of the collision left the car's doors jammed, necessitating the efforts of local residents and law enforcement to forcibly open them in order to rescue the victims from the wreckage. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of road safety and the need for heightened caution in adverse weather conditions."
