100 Israelis were killed and more than 800 injured in land, air and sea attacks by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas on Israel, while many were taken hostage.
Arab media have claimed that Hamas fighters have taken Israeli army Major General Nimrod Aluni hostage. Major General Nimrod Aluni is the head of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) depth corps and military colleges. It was appointed by Israeli Defense Minister Yves Gallant earlier in the year.
On the other hand, it was neither confirmed nor denied by the Israeli forces. Palestinian officials say that 210 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 1,000 wounded in Israel's attacks on Gaza, while the condition of 270 wounded is critical.
