World Cup: India's target of 358 runs to win against Sri Lanka

 In the 33rd match of the Cricket World Cup, India set a target of 358 runs to win against Sri Lanka.


In this match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first.



Lincoln bowlers started the match brilliantly by taking the wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the first over. Rohit Sharma scored 4 runs and was bowled by Madhushanka.

After that, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill made a partnership of 189 runs and laid the foundation for a big total for the team.


Both Virat Kohli and Shaban Gill could not complete their centuries. Gill was dismissed for 92 runs on a total of 193, while Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring 88 runs on a total of 196.


A partnership of 60 runs was formed between Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul for the fourth wicket, Rahul was dismissed for 21 runs for a total of 256.


Shreyas Iyer shared a 60-run partnership with Sriya Kumar Yadav's 20 and Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 12 runs first. Iyer was dismissed for 82 runs in the 49th over.

Ravindra Jadeja scored 35 runs and was run out on the last ball of the innings. India scored 357 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.


For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madhushanka took 5 wickets while Dashmantha Chimera dismissed one player.


It should be noted that both the teams have played 6 and 6 matches in this World Cup so far, India has not been defeated so far while Sri Lanka have won 2 of their matches.


In the points table, India is second and Sri Lanka is seventh.
