Trump Family Laments the Death of Amalija Knavs, Mother of Melania Trump, at the Age of 78

"As we bring you the solemn news, we regret to inform you that Amalia Navs, the mother of former First Lady Melania Trump, has passed away at the age of 78. In a heartfelt statement released on Tuesday, January 9th, Melania Trump expressed her profound sorrow, saying, 'It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalia.'

Melania further writes, 'Amalia Navs was a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity. She was entirely devoted to her husband, daughters, grandson, and son-in-law. We will miss her beyond measures and continue to honor and love her legacy.'

Details surrounding the passing of Amalia remain undisclosed, but it's known that she had been unwell for an extended period. Former President Donald Trump paid tribute to his mother-in-law on Truth Social Tuesday night, expressing deep sorrow for the entire Trump family.

Melania, foregoing the annual Christmas photo with her husband and three of his five children, chose to stand by her mother's side in the hospital last month. Melania and her Slovenian mother, Amalia, shared an incredibly close bond, as revealed by her former senior aide, Stefan Winston Wov. Winston Wov expressed her prayers for Amalia last month, emphasizing Melania's unwavering dedication to caring for her parents.

Notably, the Navs officially became U.S. citizens in 2018, marking this significant milestone two years into their son-in-law's presidency. Preferring a low profile, the couple had spent recent years residing in Mar-a-Lago. The journey began in the rural industrial town of Sevnica, where they raised their daughter Melania. During Slovenia's communist era, Amalia worked in a textile factory, while Victor pursued a career as a car dealer.

The now 53-year-old former first lady, originally born as Melania, adopted the name Melania Navs when she embarked on her modeling career, making New York her new home in 1996. She crossed paths with businessman Donald Trump two years later, ultimately becoming his third wife in the year 2005."
