UN Chief Antonio Guterres Has Criticized India Over Its Human Rights Record 

UN Chief said voice of India can only gain authority and credibility on global stages if it commits itself to human rights at home . UN Chief made this remark while addressing students at IIT Bombay during his India visit .

UN Chief Antonio Guterres urged India to Condemn hate speech unequivocally. He added freedom of journalist Human Rights activists and students must be protected .

An elected member of the Human Rights Council, India has a responsibility to shape global human rights and to protect and promote the rights of all individuals including members of minority communities . 


India voice on the global stages can only gain in authority and credibility from a strong commitment to inclusivity and respect human rights at homes . By practicing the values of Gandhi by securing and upholding the rights and dignity of all people especially the most vulnerable .


By taking concrete action for inclusion ,recognising the enormous value and contributions of multicultural ,multi-religious and multi-etjnic societies by condemning hate speech unequivocally . 


By protecting the rights and freedoms of journalists , Human Rights Activists , Students and Academics.” 


United Nations General secretary Antiono Guterres is in India for a two-day visit . On Wednesday UN Chief paid tribute to 26/11 terror attack victims in Mumbai
