Highly anticipated nuclear disarmament talks between Russia and United States postponed . The change of plan came days before officials from both sides were scheduled to meet and discuss resuming inspections under the new start nuclear arms reduction treaty .

Talks under the treaty had been suspended in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic . Russia and US have given no reason for the postponement although the US embassy was quoted by Kommersant newspaper as saying that the decision was made by Russia.
A report on CNN say Biden administration has blamed Russia for “Unilaterally” delaying talks . It says that Moscow had only recently informed the US of its decision to postpone talks .

CNN also reported that the US had viewed “ New Start” talks as positive development amid the war . But others reports suggest that Russia was not expecting any breakthrough to happen in talks .
