The Russian president could pretend to enagage in negotiations while actually training more troops and sending more ammunition . On Thursday US pres Biden indicated he was ready for direct talks with Putin . Russia said it was open to negotiations but not on the demand to pull out of Ukraine . Kremlin west must recognise “New Territories” seizes from Ukraine for peace talks . 


Russia annexed 4 Ukraine regions ( Donetsk, Kherson , Lugansk and Zaporizhzhia) in September . The sudden flury of diplomatic activity comes after months of little enthusiasm for talks .


On Friday German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also spoke to Putin and urged him to find Aa diplomatic solution that involved pulling Russian troops out of Ukraine as soon as possible . 


In the response Putin pointed fingers at the west of waging war against Russia . So far Russia has shown no sign of calling off its special military OP in Ukraine .
