Hours after Russia warned Kosovo against blaming it for conflict with Serbia Kosovo has caved in to the demands of Serbia seeking release oof an ex-policeman .The arrest of dejan pantic on Dec 10 for assaulting Kosovan police officer had triggered violent protests by Kosovo serb minority including road and blockades .
Following his release serb protesters agreed to remove barricades in place for 19 days . Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said barricades will be removed but the mistrust remains .

The removal of barricades is not a simple process and can not be done in two hours as some imagined. But within 24 to 48 hours the barricades will be removed . Those who are paying with very existence of serbs in Kosovo must know that same like we did not allow it now we will not allow it in the future as well .
The European Union and the United States who are mediating talks between Belgrade and pristina to resolve the tense dispute have guaranteed that none of the serbs who set up barricades will be prosecuted ( As Quoted By Al Jazeera )
The Serbian decision also comes after the European Union and the United States voiced concern over the situation at the border and urged its immediate de-escalation . Germany also warned against heightened military presence near the Kosovo border.
Meanwhile Serbia ally Russia said it was very closely following the developments. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov added that Serbia is a sovereign country and it is fundamentally wrong to look for some kind of destructive influence of Russia .
After the roadblocks were erected Kosovo police and international peacekeepers stationed by NATO were attacked in several shooting incidents . The serbian armed forces were also put on alert this week sparking war fears .
