The repercussion of the war between Russian and Ukraine are felt all over the world . The Russian army in which entered the territory of Ukraine with the order of the Russian leader on February 24th upset all the balances in the world .
In fact at this point Vladimir Putin wanted to drive the NATO in his mind away from his won territory while entering Ukraine today Russia and Ukraine and NATO are now neighbors on all European border. The officials submissions of Finland and Sweden to NATO was the biggest diet of Russia disbanded order because the last two neutral countries in the Baltic and Scandinavian regions have joined NATO.
We look to see is one of the most important seas for Russia and if there’s one thing Russia hates Its that the Baltic Sea is on its way to becoming a NATO Lake . The pin sensor in the Baltic sea is getting narrower for Russia every day.
We know that the port of Saint Petersburg is the most strategic location for Russia Baltic fleet . However the possibility of NATO closing the strait of Saint Petersburg port connecting to the Baltic sea has been focused on in recent months.
The defense line to be drawn between the Finnish port of Helsinki and the Estonian port of Tallinn can ensure that the Russian Navy is fully controlled . Russia Baltic Navy is aware of these threats and does not hesitate to come into contact with the NATO navy in Baltic Sea.
But for the last week NATO forces have been in contact with Russian Navy just like the Russian forces . In latest report it was stated that NATO fighter jets in Baltic passed over Russian fighters jets twice last week .
The Lithuanian ministry of defense said in statement that NATO warplanes controlling Baltic airspaces were twice scrambled to intercept a Russian plane flying an international airspace over the Baltic sea last week in violation of flight rules.
A few days before the end of 2022 we expected that these elbow contacts would be seen as there would be great tensions . A warning commotion was carried out recently over s Russian ill-20 attack aircraft bound for Kalliningrad from mainland Russia as well as two SU-24 fighters jets flying to and front in the Russian enclave international airspace .
NATO Baltic Air policing was alerted , NATO jets took off from mainland Russia to kaliningrad to intercept two SU-30 fighter jets flying in international airspace . Russian aircraft did not use onboard transponders and had no flight plans but all the SU-27 warplanes were in radio contact with the original traffic control center .
These elbow contacts can also give us a summary of the coming days while the event took place in the last three days of 2022. NATO and Russia are making counter moves in both the Baltic Black sea and the Mediterranean .
Certain measures are taken by NATO against the Russian threat not only in the Baltic but also in the mediterranean and Black Sea . Last month the US sixth fleet command took additonal measures in the region against the increase of the Russian Navy presence in the Mediterranean.
While Romania and Turkey controlled the costal and maritime elements in the Black Sea the NATO black sea air policing Romania constantly monitors the activities of the Russian navy in black sea. Lets try to answer the question of how NATO can keep up with hybrid threats in the black sea region and beyond.
Russian attacks on Ukraine infrastructure in recent months have highlighted the devastating impact of the 21st century war and the resulting fragility of the civilian life a key component of modern warfare is the hybrid threat of which Russia is the most aggressive perpetrator .
Indeed the Kremlin effectively implemented hybrid warfare in the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and continues to use similar tactics to influence political outcomes in Moscow in favor hybrid warfare involving cyber warfare and malignant influence allow states and non-states actors to influence the political stability of enemies with limited or no use of conventional military forces .
This is important as it provides states as well as terrorists and Criminal organizations a low-cost method to influence the policies of other states and even seize their territory an important aspect of hybrid warfare is its ability to attack and disrupt the civilian infrastructure particularly the electrical grid and fuel distribution systems that form the backbone of a country energy sector suffice it to recall Russia persistent attacks on Ukraine energy infrastructure.
Starting with the cyber attack using black power malware in the december 2015. More recently the colonial pipeline ransomware attack that place in the United States in May 2021 is a notable example of this phenomenon.
Despite setback on the battlefield Ukraine Russia cyber military dominance is emerging in the wider black sea region particularly among the smaller states of NATO and the partnership for peace program which have limited resources and vulnerable energy infrastructure .Russia war in Ukraine has created conditions that require NATO to pay more attention to this dynamic . Particularly the so called operational energy the energy required to conduct military operations .
It is imperative that National Security Experts continue to analyze this vital area and focus on improving NATO operational energy capabilities resilience and interoperability . This brings with it several requirements .It refers to the requirement that NATO must focus on .
In order to achieve its objectives and operate more effectively and efficiently in an energy constrained environment enhance the capabilities could take the form 0f strengthening NATO cyber defense planning process and analytical framework that maps capabilities to mission requirements .
It is the ability of NATO member states collectively or individually to detect resist and recover from a variety of hybrid tactics launched against their energy infrastructure. Greater resilience will allow NATO members to deal a blow to the energy sectors and recover in time .
In addition to creating alternative supply chains they should consider consolidating their energy sector assets as much as possible . In addition this should require a deeper assessment of the malignant impact of the energy sector .
Interoperability allows member states to interact seamlessly across different environments conditions and platforms . It allows members states to work together more effficiently and operate under an agreed set f NATO standards to create familiarity and a common working picture. Once these requirements are deemed worthy of consideration we can proceed to a much more detailed analysis in any case Russia is developing a much greater number and varity of offensive styles .
It is clear that NATO has developed a clear defense style in the face of these attacks . We can see that the borders for Russia are narrowing day by day there is a strengthening NATO and it has expanded its joint operational network with NATO allies . Now the mediterranean has become a a complete lock for the Russian Navy.
Even the Black sea and the Baltic sea which they dominate started to pse big problems for them . Ukraine threat Crimea and the successive attacks on the Sevastopol are driving the Russian Navy away from its safe Harbor .
The Russian Black Sea Navy was also seriously injuried in war especially the loss of the Russian Navy Black sea fleet flagship Moskva could be heaviest naval defeat for the Russian after the loss of the 750 million dollars moscva the Russian Navy was stunned and subsequently lost another dozens warships .
Currently the Russians Navy is still strong but has lost 16 warships and boats and the Russians know that they are helpless against Ukraine drone army. In the Baltic on the other hand NATO hegemony is in question and there is not much room for them to answer here .
The Russian port in Kaliningrad is not strong enough to respond NATO’s Baltic power . Now everything has become difficult for them and Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the Ukraine. However this war seems to bring their end .
