Wounded Russian soldiers “Forced to fight in Ukraine”
Soldiers with lung & shrapnel wounds sent to front?
Putin to raise draft age to boost troop number?
Severely injured Russian soldiers are reportedly being
returned to the frontline in Ukraine without the approval
of military doctors . Two soldiers with punctured lungs were
sent into combat instead of to a military medical commission
for examination. The claim was made by Valentina
Melnikova executive secretary of the union of the
committees of soldiers mother of Russia. Melnikova said
there are an unacceptable number of documented cases
of commanders sidestepping military doctors. She told
Agentstvo that Russian commanders were sending wounded
soldiers straight from the hospital to the frontline.
Melnikova also claimed that soldiers receiving treatment for
ulcers , heart attacks and strokes were also sent back to Ukraine.
Soldiers with shrapnel wounds were reportedly returned to fight
without the shrapnel being removed .
Russia To Investigate Complaints
The presidential human rights council in Russia is investigating
the matter after receiving complaints from hospital staff in
Moscow and Donetsk . These reports come after US army Gen
Mark Milley estimated that will over 100,000 Russian soldiers
had been killed or wounded in Ukraine. The Ukrainian army
recently claimed Russia is building new hospitals in response
to a growing number of injuries among its troops .
Putin New Plan To Boost Russian Troops Numbers?
Amid growing losses in the war Russia is planning to raise
the upper age limit for citizens to be conscripted into the
armed forces . According to a senior lawmaker Moscow plan
could boost the number of Russian troops by 30% as soon as
this spring. President Vladimir Putin reportedly gave his backing
to defense ministry proposals to raise the age range for mandatory
military Service in December . The chairman of the Russian parliament
defense committee Andrei Kartapolov said Russia could raise the upper
age limit for conscription to 30 . The proposed age limit will be 21-30
rather than the current range of 18-27 Kartapolov told the officials
parliamentary newspaper . However only after a one-three year transitions
period would the Lower limit be raised from 18 to 21 year. Critics said
The idea of a transition period was a transparent attempt to increase
the number of Russia's eligible to be called up for military service .
Kartapolov later dismissed such an interpretation saying there was
no plans to increase the number of conscriptions once the draft age
has risen to 21.The Kremlin has said Putin conceptually supports
raising the conscription age but the exact details were up to the
defense ministry to work out .
