Russian defense ministery blames soldiers cellphone use for strike
Russia has raised death toll significantly 3 days after a deadly Ukrainian missile strikes. Russian defense ministry on Dec 3 claimed that 89 soldiers had died in the attack . It blamed the “Illegal use of mobile phones” by Russian soldiers for the deadly strike .
Moscow had previously said 63 Russian soldiers were killed in the weekend strike . In a statement issued today the Russian defense ministry said that mobile phones allows the enemy to determine coordinates of the soldiers location for a strike .
The ministry reaction came amid mounting anger directed at military commanders . On Jan 1 four Ukrainian missile hit a temporary Russian barracks in a vocational collage in Makiivka twin city of Russian-occupied Donetsk in eastern Ukraine .
Ukraine military said it launched a strike that killed 400 Russian soldiers in Makiivka . Ukrainian president made no mention of the attack in his Dec video address in which he said Russia was set to launch a major offensive to improve its fortunes.
