Three days after Ukraine attack Russia missile-armed warship ready
Putin launches admiral Gorshkov fitted with Zircon missile systems
Russian Navy gets more teeth amid Ukraine war, admiral Gorshkov ready for combat . Equipped with Zircon missile systems the Russian frigate will soon join military service . It is being sent on a training mission to the atlantic , Indian ocean & the mediterranean .
Admiral Gorshkov Armed With Zircon Missiles
1) Warship designed to perform long-range attacks against surface targets and ships conduct anti-submarine warfare, carry out escort missions.
2) Was equipped with 16-cell vertical launch system (VLS) for a mix of Kalibr-NK land attack cruise missiles ( range 2500 km ) P-800 Oniks anti-ship missiles ( Range 300-500 km ) AND 91RTE2 Anti-submarine missiles (Missiles drops torpedo 50 km away) .
3) Has been now fitted with Zircon hypersonic ant-ship & land attack missiles.
4) Tsirkon or Zircon , could overcome any missile defense system the missiles fly at nine times the speed of sound & have a range of over 1,000 km.
5) Ha a hanger & can accommodate a single Kamov Ka-27 or similar naval helicopter.
6) Has a combined diesel and gas propulsion.
7) Machinery includes two cruise diesel engines developing a combined output of 10 400 shp & two boost gas turbines developing a combines output of 55000 shp .
8) The power is delivered to two shafts maximum speed is 29.5 knots .
Russian president Vladimir Putin made the announcement at a military ceremony . It was attended by Russian defense minister & Igor Krokmal commander of the frigate . Seven feet under the keel! Said Putin as he congratulated the Russian top brass.
Russian Launches New Warship
I am sure that such powerful weapons will make it possible to reliably protect Russia from potential external threats and will help ensure the national interests of our country . The main focus of the mission will be countering and supporting regional peace and stability together with friendly countries .
In exercise there will be training for the crew on deploying hypersonic weapons and long-range cruise missiles . Zircon missiles are able to overcome any modern or future air defense and could deliver pinpoint & powerful strikes against the enemy at sea & on land .”
The launch of Russia new frigate comes just days after Ukraine attack on Makiivka . The strike 89 Russian soldiers through Ukraine claim the death toll to be at 400 .
