Police said- preliminary information shows that the accused made threatening calls to Raut brothers under the influence of alcohol, detailed investigation is going on in the case.
Mumbai: Two persons were arrested on Saturday after Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut and his MLA brother allegedly received death threats. A police officer gave this information. Raut had claimed on Friday that he and his brother had received death threats. He had demanded the Maharashtra government to take it seriously.
One of the accused, an autorickshaw driver and another person, was taken into custody from eastern suburb Govandi on Friday itself, but the police awaited an official complaint in the case before arresting them, an official said. He said that preliminary information suggests that he made threat calls to the Raut brothers under the influence of alcohol. He said that detailed investigation is going on in this regard.
Raut had told reporters, “Not me but this government should take it (threats received by him and his brother) seriously. This matter is with the police and they will have to look into it.
Sanjay Raut had claimed, “My brother Sunil Raut received threats. I did not file any complaint (about my threats). We are not worried about it (the threat). The police have registered a case against the arrested people under section 506-II (criminal intimidation - threatening to kill or cause grievous hurt) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code, the official said.
