The 62-day long pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on July 1.
New Delhi:A joint security conference of security forces and civil administration officials was held in Srinagar on Saturday with an aim to enhance coordination, interaction and coordination between citizens and security agencies for the success of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
The 62-day pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine situated at 3,880 meters altitude of Amarnath will begin on July 1. The yatra takes place through two routes, the 48-km Nunwan route from Pahalgam in south Kashmir and the 14-km Baltal route at Ganderbal in central Kashmir.
A defense official informed that the purpose of the joint security conference of security forces and civil administration officials was to enhance synergy, interaction and coordination for a smooth and incident-free pilgrimage.
The Defense Department said in a statement that important issues affecting the security of the pilgrimage were discussed at the Defense Conference held in Srinagar. He said the officials stressed on the need for harmonious functioning of the government and security agencies to make the program a success.
