Cricket Australia has made changes in the playing conditions

Cricket Australia has decided to make the use of neck protectors mandatory for Australian batters while making changes to the playing conditions.

Australia has made 12 changes for the new season's playing conditions, including a safety protector. In international and domestic cricket, all batsmen are required to wear a neck protector along with a helmet.

The new law will come into effect from October 1 and players who violate the law will be fined, with Cricket Australia's decision affecting many players.

Australian players Usman Khawaja, David Warner and Steve Smith have previously refused to wear protectors with their helmets, while Tim David and Josh Ingles in the current Australian whiteball squad also do not use protective protectors.

Cricket Australia recommended the use of protectors with helmets following the death of Phillip Hughes, who died after being struck in the neck by a ball during a domestic match.
