North Korean leader Kim will travel abroad in September to meet with Russian president Putin, according to a report

 Kim jong-un will reportedly meet Vladiir Putin for the first time in four years . The leaders of North Korea and Russia last met in Vladivostok in 2019 . The New York Times nroke the news citing US and allied sources . 



The North Korean leader is expected to travel to Russia in September . Kim rarely travels abroad and would probably set off by armoured train to Vladivostok . Vladivostok is a port city on Russia pacific coast . 


The potential meeting came as Moscow seeks stronger military ties with Pyongyang . Kim and Putin are expected to discuss military supplies during the meeting . Russia wants North Korea to supply weapons fir its on going war in Ukraine . 


One expert said Moscow would have sought Beijing blessing to engage with Pyongyang . The idea for the Russian visit reportedly emerged from an earlier trip to Pyongyang . Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu traveled to North Korea in July . Both Russia and China sent delegations to attend North Korea Victory Day ceremony . Russia is also in talks with North Korea about holding joint military exercises .
