Actor Matthew Perry of the Chandler Bing Fame from F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV series passes away

Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in Friends, has died at the age of 54. The actor was found unconscious late Saturday afternoon at his Los Angeles home by First Responders who were unable to revive him. Perry's breakthrough role in Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004, made him and the cast mega stars. Chandler Bing's character was distinguished by Perry's dry delivery and humor. His witty remarks, one-liners, and well-timed comedic commands often sent the cast and the audience into fits of laughter.

Perry, the son of actor John Bennett Perry, grew up between Montreal and Los Angeles and started his career as a child actor. He rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s. Perry openly discussed his struggles with alcohol and opioids in his 2022 memoir. He had been to multiple rehabs due to health issues and had a near-death experience in 2018. Perry acknowledged that the pressure during Friends fueled his addiction. He also revealed his disillusionment with fame and its impact on his happiness. In his post-Friends career, he continued acting with roles in shows like Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Go On. He also made guest appearances on shows such as The West Wing and The Good Wife.

After 2018, Perry found solace in friendship, writing, and sports. His legacy encompasses the highs of fame and the lows of personal struggles. Matthew Perry's passing leaves a void in the entertainment industry, prompting reflection on the complexities of stardom and personal battles.
