World Cup: Sri Lanka set a target of 345 runs to Pakistan

 In the eighth match of the World Cup, Sri Lanka set a target of 345 runs to Pakistan.


Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 244 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs and set the biggest target of the World Cup against Pakistan.

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsmen Kaushal Mendes and Samara Wickrama scored centuries while Patham Nissanka was the outstanding batsman with 51 runs.


Other players except Dhananjaya De Silva 25, captain Dasan Shanaka 12 and Dinoth Velalge 10 did not cross double figures.




Hasan Ali of Green Shirts took 4 wickets, Haris Rauf took 2 wickets while Shaheen Afridi, Shadab and Muhammad Nawaz took 1 and 1 wicket respectively.


Earlier, talking after the toss at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam said that if we had won the toss, we would have bowled first.


Babar Azam said that we have been here since last week, the conditions have been assessed.


On this occasion Sri Lankan captain Dasan Shanaka said that there has been a change in the team, Thakshana has been included in the team in place of Rajitha.


A change has been made in the Pakistan team that played the last match today, Abdullah Shafiq has been included in the team instead of Fakhar Zaman.

It should be noted that this is the second match between the two teams in this World Cup, Pakistan won their first match while Sri Lanka lost in the first match.
