Fakhar Zaman equaled Shahid Afridi's record

 Pakistan's aggressive opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has equaled the record of his countryman, the legendary all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi.


Fakhar Zaman made the impossible possible by playing a victorious innings against New Zealand in the World Cup 2023 in Bangalore.



This rain-affected match was won by the Pakistan team by 21 runs under the DL method.

In the match, Fakhar Zaman played a stormy innings and scored 126 runs off 81 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 11 sixes.


These are the most sixes in an innings by any Pakistani batsman in the World Cup.


The record for most sixes in a World Cup innings was held by Imran Nazir who hit 8 sixes in his 160-run innings against Zimbabwe in the 2007 World Cup.


Apart from this, this is also the joint record for most sixes by Pakistan in ODI cricket.


Before him, Shahid Khan Afridi has also hit the most number of sixes in an innings. Shahid Afridi made this record by scoring the fastest century against Sri Lanka.
