South Korea and the U.S. military will discuss ways to bolster extended deterrence, at their 55th Security Consultative Meeting to be held next week. The Ministry of National Defense announced that Minister Shin Won-sik and his U.S. counterpart Lloyd Austin will hold the annual meeting next Monday, at the defense ministry compound in Yongsan, central Seoul.
This is their first round of talks since Shin's inauguration last month. Detailed plans to enhance extended deterrence including the operation of the Nuclear Consultative Group, are expected to be at the top of their agenda.
