‘India wants more…’: Sunak Govt Minister explains delay in India-UK Free Trade Deal


India-UK free trade agreement (FTA) that missed its Diawali deadline has made a lot of progress UK Fm James Cleverly told time of India .

UK prime minister revealed that India wants more work and study visas exchange of lowering tariffs on UK imports. Toi reported .UK Fm told toi that India wants these visas in line recent deals UK had with AUS and NZ .

UK-India Trade Deal 

We have made a lot of progress in the negotiations  and we continue to work for an agreement that work for an agreement that works for both countries . This is a very positive thing that so many Indians want to come and study in the UK and that Indian businessmen want to do business in Uk . Its a cause for celebrations .


Of course it does not mean that we must ensure our processes are right . We have been very very explicit that our partnership with India is one that  matters to us and one we want to enhance and develop .”(UK Foreign Minister James Cleverly).

UK political turmoil and few sticking points has left the trade deal in uncertainty so far . Reports trade talks snagged amid fears in IK ruling conservatives about more immigrations .


Reducing barriers to trade cutting tariffs and easier imports and exports are some of the key focus areas of historic trade deal between India and UK . 

India Britain are aiming to double their bilateral trade to $100 Billion by 2030.
