United Kingdom has decided to fulfill Volodymyr Zelensky long-time demand of battle tanks . UK PM Rishis Sunak during a call with Ukraine president confirmed that Britain will arm Kyiv with its main battle tank “Challenger 2’ to push Russian troops back .

BBC reported that UK will send a total of 12 Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine . Four battle tanks will be given to Kyiv immediately and the remining in coming weeks. Ukraine president Zelensky thanked UK PM Rishi Sunak for Britain military support. 

Challengers tank were built two decades ago and are not the most advanced western tank . However Challenger 2 tanks will be the most advanced battle tank at Ukraine disposal . Until now Ukraine armed forces have relied primarily on soveit-era T-72 tank variant. 

BBC reported that while challenger tanks won’t be a gamechanger UK PM Sunak hopes that the move will inspire other countries to donate more modern weapons . Remember Ukraine had sought over 100 tanks to push Russian troops out of Ukraine. .

Ukraine has repeatedly asked its western allies for heavier fighting vehicles such as the Abram and German-made Leopard tanks which both US and Germany have so far denied .
