Yevgeny Prigozhin, the chief of the Wagner mercenary group, has left Rostov-on-Don with his soldiers after a dramatic rebellion against Moscow.
The group's departure follows a deal brokered by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, allowing Prigozhin and his soldiers to avoid prosecution and go into exile in Belarus. Wagner troops took control of Russia's Southern Military District in Rostov and began to advance towards Moscow, which President Vladimir Putin described as a betrayal and act of treason.
