Islamabad: The passage of the amendment bill in the Election Act 2017 in the National Assembly paved the way for removing the lifetime disqualification of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif. The President has gone on Hajj. There is a possibility that the bill will be signed by Sadiq Sanjrani in his presence.
According to private TV Dunya News, under Article 62 1F, the punishment of disqualification will not be more than 5 years. After the law is made, the Election Commission will have the authority to announce the date of general elections. Section 57 of the Election Act has been amended. The Election Commission will be able to announce the new schedule and date of the general elections.
It has been reported that there is a national possibility of passing the bill in the absence of President Arif Alvi, he has gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. The signing of the bill is expected soon. With the signature of Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani, the Bill will become an Act of Parliament.
